Whales and Dolphins Festival in Uvita 2016
This coming September 2-3 &4 and then 9, 10 & 11 the South Pacific of Costa Rica is celebrating a famous festival held each year in Bahía Ballena, Uvita.
This coming September 2-3 &4 and then 9, 10 & 11 the South Pacific of Costa Rica is celebrating a famous festival held each year in Bahía Ballena, Uvita. The Marino Ballena National Park is recognized nationally and internationally for the annual visitation of different cetacean species such as the humpback whale, pilot whale, Bryde’s whale and false killer whales; plus three resident species of dolphins including bottlenose dolphins, spotted dolphins, and spinner dolphins, and also several species of sea turtles such as: hawksbill, green, olive ridley turtles.
During the festival, there will be whale watching tours, Athletics and Cycling competitions, family walks, sand sculpture contests, concerts, environmental workshops, cetacean talks in hotels and much more. All activities are directed to the general public, especially families, children and youth.
