Day 1: Pick up upon arrival at the SJO International Airport and transfer to your hotel in San José. Room and breakfast included.
Day 2: Morning pick up at your hotel to drive to the Caribbean area passing through the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Stop by to have a delicious typical breakfast on the way. Later continue on a boat trip to the canals of Tortuguero. You will be received at the lodge with a welcome drink . Room and breakfast included.
Day 3: Go on a scheduled boat tour to the canals of Tortuguero National Park for wildlife observation. National Park entrance fee NOT included (USD 15 per person). This exuberant tropical rain forest will allow you to experience a wide range of wildlife.Afternoon visit to Tortuguero town where you will get detailed information on its history and culture. The Caribbean Conservation office entrance fee is not included. (USD 2 per person). Room and breakfast included.
Day 4: Boat ride back to the port and lunch at the restaurant on the way. Take a shuttle transfer to the Arenal area. This place is famous for its majestic volcano, lake, hot springs, cloud forest and wildlife, with an abundance of outdoor activities that will make your time worth it. Definitely the adventure center of Costa Rica. Room and breakfast included.
Day 5: Morning to relax at the hotel, afternoon pick up for a shared hike to the Arenal Volcano National Park. Hike through the rainforest with an experienced guide who will point out interesting plants, wildlife, nature and tell important facts and history. Later on, relax and soak at the Hot Springs and enjoy a delicious dinner. Room and breakfast included.
Day 6: Free day to explore the surroundings, visit the town, local restaurants or relax at the hotel. Room and breakfast included.
Day 7: Morning pickup for a shuttle bus to Monteverde area. Monteverde is a world above the coastal town, it’s a high altitude place of cloud forests and coffee plantations, mist and friendly locals. Home of many ecosystems including 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insect species, and over 2,500 varieties of plants. Room and breakfast included.
Day 8: Morning pick up for a chocolate, coffee and sugarcane mill tour. This is perfect for those looking to learn a bit of Costa Rican culture. You will get to see and learn about the processes of the “Trapiche” sugarcane mill, coffee, chocolate and other important Costa Rican crops that this family has on their farm. A real taste of Monteverde! Late in the afternoon pick up for a night hike tour to Monteverde Cloudforest Reserve. Hike an approximate 1.8 km trail - where some animals, insects, birds and nocturnal mammals can be observed. A different overnight perspective! Enjoy the feeling when turning off your flashlight and see fireflies or glowing mushrooms. Room and breakfast included.
Day 9: Morning pickup for a shared shuttle bus to Rincón de la Vieja. This area and its volcano presents a variety of ecosystems and breathtaking landscapes combined where you can see the active volcano’s crater, waterfalls, grassland areas in regeneration, and primary forests with a good chance of spotting birds, mammals and reptiles. Room and breakfast included.
Day 10: Morning pick up for a Rincon de la Vieja National Park hike on “Las Pailas” trail combined with “La Cangreja” waterfall. This is a 10 km moderate hike that starts with green forest and switches to dry forest halfway. It is an interesting trail with varied flora and fauna and “La Cangreja” waterfall as a great attraction with its “Blue Lake” swimming hole available to dip in. Tour will be about 8hrs. Entrance fee $15 and property fee $2 not included. Room and breakfast included.
Day 11: Morning pickup for a shuttle transfer to Samara beach. Samara Beach is Costa Rica's hidden tropical paradise on the Pacific Ocean. It is the perfect, long, white sand beach with shallow, gentle waters. It has a superb coral reef and its own picturesque and deserted wooded island in the bay - Isla Chora. It is popular for swimmers and surfers. Room and breakfast included.
Day 12: Day off to explore this beautiful area. There is a wide spread of activities you can enjoy during these days: surfing lessons, shopping, kayaking, ziplining and so many more. Room and breakfast included.
Day 13: Morning pickup for a shuttle transfer back to San José for your last night in the country. Afternoon at leisure to recover from the long journey or visit interesting spots in downtown. Room and breakfast included.
Day 14: Transfer will be provided to SJO International Airport. You need to be there 3 hours before your flight time.
Casual clothing like: sweater, loose shirts, pants, jeans, shorts, hat or cap and bathing suit. We also recommend: Sunscreen, sunglasses, hiking shoes, small backpack to carry on tours and activities, water bottle, flashlight, bug spray, raincoat, camera and binoculars.
