Day 1: Pick up upon arrival at the SJO International Airport and transfer to your hotel in San José. Room and breakfast included.
Day 2: Morning pick up for a shared tour to the Atlantic Aerial Tram. Go on through the primary rainforest treetops covering a distance of 2.6 kilometers on an hour and 20 minutes experience. The open-air rain forest tram gondolas with canvas awnings seat six passengers plus a naturalist guide. It’s an excellent option for nature lovers. After finishing, enjoy a delicious lunch and return to San José. Room and breakfast included.
Day 3: Morning pick up at your hotel to drive to the Caribbean area passing through the Braulio Carrillo National Park. Stop by to have a delicious typical breakfast on the way. Later continue on a boat trip to the canals of Tortuguero. You will be received at the lodge with a welcome drink and lunch. Afternoon visit to Tortuguero town where you will get detailed information on its history and culture. The Caribbean Conservation office entrance fee is not included. Day 4: This early morning you go on a scheduled boat tour to the canals of Tortuguero National Park for wildlife observation. National Park entrance fee NOT included (USD 15 per person). This exuberant tropical rain forest will allow you to experience a wide range of wildlife. Return to the lodge for breakfast and checking out. You will have a boat ride back to the port and lunch at the restaurant on the way. From there, you take a shuttle transfer to the Arenal area. This place is famous for its majestic volcano, lake, hot springs, cloud forest and wildlife, with an abundance of outdoor activities that will make your time worth it. Day 5: Morning to relax at the hotel, afternoon pick up for a shared hike to the Arenal Volcano National Park. Hike through the rainforest with an experienced guide who will point out interesting plants, wildlife, nature and tell important facts and history. Later on, relax and soak at the Hot Springs and enjoy a delicious dinner. Room and breakfast included.
Day 6: Morning pickup for a shared bus/boat/bus transfer to Monteverde through the Arenal Lake.
Arenal Lake is the largest and the most important lake in Costa Rica, it was man made in 1974 to provide hydroelectric energy to the country. You can find different kinds of resident and migratory birds. Sometimes mammals can be seen in the surroundings, also great views of the Arenal Volcano when it’s clear. Room and breakfast included.
Day 7: Morning pick up for a chocolate, coffee and sugarcane mill tour. This is perfect for those looking to learn a bit of Costa Rican culture. You will get to see and learn about the processes of the “Trapiche” sugarcane mill, coffee, chocolate and other important Costa Rican crops that this family has on their farm. A real taste of Monteverde! Room and breakfast included.
Day 8: Morning pickup to go on this exciting combo tour.
You will walk on eight different hanging bridges with various lengths and altitudes. Later on a guided walk inside one of the world’s largest live butterfly exhibitions and the world’s third largest private insect collection.
After that, at the reptile and amphibian exhibition you will find more than 30 species of frogs, lizards, geckos and snakes. Close the tour with a delicious lunch at the restaurant. Afternoon and evening at leisure to relax at your convenience. Room and breakfast included.
Day 9: Morning pickup for a shuttle transfer to Manuel Antonio.
This area is popular for having this beautiful national park with white sand beaches backed by an evergreen forest that grows right up to the high tide line. There is also a lot of things to enjoy like going whitewater rafting, horseback riding, canopy tours, shopping, restaurants and many more. A must visit in your trip to Costa Rica. Day 10: Morning pick up to go on a shared Manuel Antonio National Park hike.
Get ready to hike and enjoy the beautiful habitats of this national park; you will find primary forest, secondary forest, mangrove swamps, lagoons and beach vegetation. There is quite a varied fauna with 109 species of mammals and 184 of birds. The park includes 12 little isles just off the coast; these often visited by a number of dolphins.
Afternoon pick up to go on a shared sunset sailing boat trip on a catamaran. You will navigate around the islands in the area searching of playful dolphins and marine birds. You will have a break to swim, use snorkeling gear to enjoy the warm waters and have a delicious meal. Room and breakfast included.
Day 11: Morning at leisure to relax and enjoy the hotel and surroundings. Afternoon pickup for a shuttle transfer back to San José for your last night in the country. Room and breakfast included.
Day 12: Transfer will be provided to SJO International Airport. You need to be there 3 hours before your flight time.
