14-Day Puerto Viejo Experience

Base Experience (All 14 Days)

• Stay in a colorful shared student house (pool, garden, hammocks)

• Daily breakfast + dinner included

• Spanish program at Diversity School
  → Choose: 20h group lessons or 10h private lessons

• 4x2h surf sessions with certified local instructor (all levels)

• Local excursions 

• Tropical Caribbean setting with easy access to beaches like Playa Cocles and Playa Negra

Week 1: Arrival, Foundations & First Waves

Day 1 – Arrival & Welcome

• Arrival in Puerto Viejo

• Check-in + orientation

• Meet fellow travelers

• Sunset walk + Caribbean dinner vibes

Day 2 – Spanish + Surf Begins

• Morning: Spanish placement + first lesson + city tour

• Afternoon: Surf Lesson #1 (2h)
  → Basics: paddling, pop-up, ocean safety

• Evening: Chill in hammocks

Day 3 – Language + Beach Flow

• Morning: Spanish class

• Afternoon: Beach time / self-practice surfing

• Optional: Bike ride along the coast

Day 4 – Surf Progression

• Morning: Visit local Rescue Center

• Afternoon: Surf Lesson #2 (2h)
  → Improve balance, catching green waves

• Evening: Group dinner

Day 5 – Yoga day

• Morning: Spanish class

• Afternoon: Relaxing yoga session onsite

• Evening: Free time

Day 6 – Culture Day 

• Indigenous community visit

• Learn traditions + local lifestyle

• Organic cacao tasting

• Visit a jungle waterfall (likely near Bribri Waterfall)

• Return for dinner

Day 7 – Rest & Explore

• No structured classes

• Visit Cahuita National Park
  → Wildlife, snorkeling (extra if weather permits), beaches

• Sunset reflection

Week 2: Confidence, Culture & Fun

Day 8 – Back to Spanish + Surf

• Morning: Spanish class

• Afternoon: Surf Lesson #3 (2h)
  → Turning, wave timing

Day 9 – Adventure or relax day?

• Morning: free to book the Adventure tour or Rafting trip

• Alternatively: enjoy the beach and practice Spanish in town (cafés, locals)

• Evening: Caribbean night vibes

Day 10 – Latin Dance 

• Morning: Spanish class

• Afternoon: Free time

• Evening: Fun Latin dance lesson
  → Salsa, reggaeton basics

Day 11 – Final Surf Session

• Morning: Surf Lesson #4 (2h) + photo session 📸

• Celebrate your progress!

Day 12 – Nature & Freedom

• Bike ride to Punta Uva kayak into the river

• Afternoon: Swimming, relaxing, journaling

Day 13 – Wrap-Up & Social

• Final Spanish class

• Group reflection + certificate

• Farewell dinner with friends & campfire (if weather permits)

Day 14 – Departure

• Breakfast

• Check-out + onward travel

Casual clothing like: sweater, loose shirts, pants, jeans, shorts, hat or cap and bathing suit. We also recommend: Sunscreen, sunglasses, hiking shoes, small backpack to carry on tours and activities, refillable water bottle, flashlight, bug spray, raincoat, camera and binoculars.

Furthermore we kindly ask to bring biodegradable soap and shampoo as well as sunscreen to not harm our water system or the ocean and its corals. Products available to purchase here.

• Rates are per person with a 2 pax minimum in a shared accommodation;  they may change depending on the dates of interest. Feel free to contact us to receive a quotation with your specific dates, number of travelers and specific requirements.​Since the Spanish classes are from Monday to Friday, it is highly recommended to schedule the arrival to the country on a Saturday or Sunday to start the classes on Monday.
• Reservations for people over 18 years-old
• For teen groups 1-2 attendants required
• During Costa Rican National Holidays, classes are not imparted nor refunded.
• Local flights and transfers allow a maximum luggage weight of 25 pounds (12kg).
