Day 1: Pick up upon arrival at the SJO International Airport and transfer to your hotel in the Central Valley. Room and breakfast included.
Day 2: Pick up for a shuttle transfer to the Arenal area. This place is famous for its majestic volcano, lake, hot springs, cloud forest and wildlife, with an abundance of outdoor activities that will make your time worth it. Definitely the adventure center of Costa Rica. Room and breakfast included.
Day 3: Morning to relax at the hotel, afternoon pick up for a shared hike to the Arenal Volcano National Park. Hike through the rainforest with an experienced guide who will point out interesting plants, wildlife, nature and tell important facts and history. Later on, relax and soak at the Hot Springs and enjoy a delicious dinner. Room and breakfast included.
Day 4: Morning pickup for a shared bus/boat/bus transfer to Monteverde through the Arenal Lake.
Monteverde is a world above the coastal town, it’s a high altitude place of cloud forests and coffee plantations, mist and friendly locals. Home of many ecosystems including 100 species of mammals, 400 species of birds, tens of thousands of insect species, and over 2,500 varieties of plants. Room and breakfast included.
Day 5: Morning pickup to go on this exciting combo tour. You will walk on eight different hanging bridges with various lengths and altitudes. Later on a guided walk inside one of the world’s largest live butterfly exhibitions and the world’s third largest private insect collection. After that, at the reptile and amphibian exhibition you will find more than 30 species of frogs, lizards, geckos and snakes. Close the tour with a delicious lunch at the restaurant. Day 6: Morning pick up to spend a wonderful day at the beautiful white sand beach of Tortuga Island, riding on a world class catamaran through the Gulf of Nicoya, passing Cedros, Jesusita and San Lucas Islands considered bird sanctuaries and one of them was a maximum prison years ago. You’ll eat a gourmet meal, enjoy live music and get to snorkel in the warm waters. Day 7: Morning pickup for a shuttle transfer to Uvita located in the Osa Peninsula.
Uvita is a special place to enjoy a great beach holiday atmosphere. It’s near the Marino Ballena National Park, famous for being the mating place of humpback whales that migrate here each year from July to the end of October and December to March. Another interesting feature of this park is Punta Uvita or commonly called the "Tail of the Whale" for its shape from the sky. A natural isthmus made of sand that is accessible when low tide. Day 8: Enjoy a boat tour to the Marino Ballena National Park. You will visit the famous Punta Uvita (tail of the whale), Ballena and Tres Hermanas Islands as well as Ventanas Sea Caves. During the tour we search for humpback whales and two different species of resident dolphins. Others species that are seeing occasionally during this tour are: bryde’s whales, pilot whales, fake killer whales and other marine life. You will get to snorkel on the coral and rock reefs to enjoy the marine wildlife of this place. Later on, you’ll move to Ventanas Beach where you can observe wonderful rocky formations and an amazing cave that was carved by the ocean and tectonic movements thousands of years ago. Day 9 and 10: Today you will be taken to Boruca Indigenous Reserve to spend 2 nights at the reserve. Borucas are indigenous people, they are about 2,600 inhabitants in the reserve and speak the language or dialect called “Brunka”. They are known primarily for their skills as craftspeople, using materials such as balsa and sometimes cedar wood, carved masks, arrows, drums, knives, jewelry and other objects. Day 11: Today the trip to Southern Pacific continues, now to Drake Bay. You will be taken to Sierpe, from there a taxi boat will take you to one of the most beautiful places: Drake Bay! It is named after Sir Francis Drake who is believed to have ventured here in the late 16th century. With scattered hotels and lodges, Drake Bay is the ideal vacation spot for those wishing to relax and escape from it all. Room and meals included.
Day 12: Early morning pick up for a tour to Corcovado National Park. The boat ride takes approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Along the way you will see beautiful panoramas of the beach, and possibly dolphins and whales. Once there, you will walk approximately 4 hours through trails around the station where is possible to see a lot of flora and fauna. This is probably one of the best places to see mammals in danger of extinction such as the tapir, white-lipped peccaries, monkeys, as well as many other species. Enjoy a delicious lunch and later return to Drake Bay. Room and meals included.
Day 13: Morning pick up for a Caño Island snorkeling tour. It takes about 40 min in the boat to get to the Island, on the way it is possible to see dolphins, whales, sea snakes, sea turtles and other species. The guide will accompany you in the snorkeling and will show different marine species that can be observed, these include many species of colorful coral fish, sea stars, eels, turtles, White tip sharks, among many others. Then you will move to San Josecito Beach to have lunch and enjoy the beautiful white sand beach. Afternoon at leisure when return to Drake Bay. Room and meals included.
Day 14: Day off to explore this beautiful area and surroundings. There is a wide spread of activities you can enjoy during this day: surfing lessons, zip lining, horseback riding, kayaking, bird watching, and so many more. Room and meals included.
Day 15: Today you will take a local flight back to San José. You need to be at the airstrip 1 hour prior your flight time. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel to spend the last night in the country. Room and breakfast Included.
Day 16: Transfer will be provided to SJO International Airport. You need to be there 3 hours before your flight time.
